After several pottery classes over the last few decades, sandwiched between demanding jobs and raising my family, I have at last taken the plunge and bought a pottery wheel!
We then converted a car port into a studio and added a small electric kiln. My husband then started to throw as well and we have not looked back… I was not prepared for how precious my time in the pottery studio has become; intensely peaceful, satisfying and exciting all at once!
We are surrounded by the rolling hills of the west Dorset countryside and walk our rescue greyhounds daily , gaining inspiration from both the hills and the coast. We are currently exploring how to make and apply our own glazes to white stoneware – it is funny how you get attached to pots which appear to be initial disasters – a created piece often carries such significance to you that your mental boundaries can crumble.
We hope that this blog will be a record of our journey and be a source of interest to other potters!
